Time for a break...

So, I've decided to take a break from cakes for a little while. I'm so thankful to everyone who has supported me, but I have just been overwhelmed by the number of requests I have had lately. Last month, I did 7 cakes! That's almost 2 per week. When I feel as though I've had a good break from it and get caught up on life, in general, I will definitely let everyone know! Thanks y'all!

This cake was for my son's 3rd birthday. He loves GO DIEGO GO from Nickelodeon. The rocks are edible chocolate rocks and Diego is actually a candle.

white cake, chocolate buttercream filling and frosting

This was the second time I have used the basket-weave technique to do the sides of the cake. The flowers and leaves were my first attempt at using fondant. And, I tinted it myself to achieve the colors I wanted. I made the 50 out of melted white chocolate. I painted the flowers, leaves, and 50 with gold and bronze shimmer dust to give them an iridescent shine.

The client sent me this sketched idea and asked that I make the cake look like it.

This is the completed cake.
